Hawaii Elopement

Sunrise Elopement in Oahu, Hawaii

Getting Married in Oahu Hawaii

When I eloped in Hawaii, I envisioned a breathtaking backdrop that captured both the majestic mountains and the serene beachside, perfect for sunrise photographs. I wanted my guests to enjoy our intimate Hawaii beach wedding without it taking over their entire vacation. I wanted my ceremony to be an authentic Hawaiian ceremony performed by the traditional Hawaiian people with their rituals, florals and customs, while also providing English translations for everyone to appreciate.

Personally eloping in Hawaii has made me an expert. When planning a Hawaii Elopement, these are the questions I asked myself and i thought it would be helpful to create a guide to help you with your Hawaii elopement.

So lets begin…

Where to get ready for your elopement?

The best place to get ready in Oahu, Hawaii, is at my favorite local hotel, the Queen Kapiolani. This charming hotel is situated at the end of Waikiki Beach, offering breathtaking views of Diamond Head Volcano and the pristine beaches of Waikiki. With its prime location and stunning surroundings, the Queen Kapiolani Hotel provides the perfect setting to prepare for any occasion.

Where to hold your ceremony?

Both options for your ceremony offer unique and beautiful experiences. The Queen Kapiolani Hotel, situated in Waikiki, provides an elegant indoor setting with a ballroom that offers stunning views of Diamond Head. This venue ensures convenience with on-site amenities such as catering, restrooms, and guest accommodations, making it ideal for a more formal event. Conversely, Sandy Beach, located approximately 45 minutes from the Queen Kapiolani, is renowned for its breathtaking ocean views and picturesque beach setting. This option offers a relaxed, natural atmosphere perfect for a casual beach wedding, though it requires logistical planning for transportation and a backup plan for weather conditions. Ultimately, your decision should reflect your vision for the ceremony, considering both the guest experience and the type of ambiance you wish to create on your special day.

sunrise or sunset? Which is best?

I personally love a sunrise elopement ceremony, personally because I love the start of a new day and because it offers a private and serene experience. Also, if you are planning on inviting your family this give everyone the opportunity to enjoy your ceremony at a once-in-a-lifetime-experience sunrise, but also gives your family the opportunity to continue enjoying the Hawaiian festivities that you may have planned for them.

“I’ve always been drawn to the magic of a sunrise elopement ceremony. There’s something about the fresh start of a new day that speaks to my soul, making it the perfect moment to say ‘I do’ in a setting that’s both private and serene. And let’s not forget the joy of sharing this intimate experience with our loved ones amidst the beauty of Hawaii.

Imagine the look on our family’s faces as they witness the sky come alive with hues of gold and pink, just like our love. Plus, starting our day with a sunrise ceremony means we have the whole day ahead of us to celebrate! From exploring the island to enjoying Hawaiian festivities, our wedding day will be filled with love, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime.”
